Miami, FL – The Consortium for a Healthier Miami-Dade Tobacco-Free Workgroup is pleased to invite you to the 2020 Tobacco-Free Workplace Summit on Friday, February 28, 2020, from 9:00 am – 12:00 pm. Please join us to learn more about the benefits of becoming a tobacco free worksite and how to implement policy changes that will improve the health of employees. There will also be free cessation resources available which are accessible to all Floridians.

It is estimated that smoking costs Florida $19.6 billion a year in workplace productivity losses, premature deaths, and direct healthcare expenditures. The Florida Department of Health in Miami-Dade County Tobacco Prevention and Control Program, in collaboration with the Tobacco-Free Workgroup, is working to educate employers, businesses, and professional communities on the benefits of providing comprehensive tobacco cessation treatment as a health benefit and establishing tobacco free workplace policies.

The event will include a keynote best practices presentation by Robert Ostbye, Statewide Tobacco Policy Manager with the Bureau of Tobacco Free Florida. Attendees can choose from two educational workshops – Wellness Programming or Electronic Cigarettes and the Florida Clean Indoor Air Act. The event will conclude with a guided panel discussion with leaders in worksite policy creation across sectors, where attendees can ask additional questions.

In addition, the event has been approved for 2.0 CEUs through select Florida boards, 2.5 CEUs for HRCI business and SHRM 2.5 PDUs.
