National Latino AIDS Awareness Day (NLAAD) is celebrated October 15, the last day of Hispanic Heritage Month in the United States.  NLAAD was created to raise awareness on the impact of HIV and AIDS on Latino communities and emphasize the importance of being committed to knowing the facts, getting tested and getting into care if infected. The proportion of all newly reported HIV infection cases among Hispanics increased from 40% in 2005 to 54% in 2014. The theme for this year is: 'You & I Will Defeat AIDS' - 'Tu y Yo Vamos a Derrotar al SIDA'.
