The Public Health Preparedness Program (PHPP) coordinates planning, preparedness, and response activities for all-hazards public health emergencies in Miami-Dade County. Public health emergencies include events or incidents that threaten the health and safety of communities or populations.
The PHPP prepares the community to respond to a wide range of public health threats, including natural disasters such as hurricanes, flooding, and wildfires; extreme weather events such as extreme heat; infectious disease outbreaks; and other public health emergencies that require coordinated response efforts.
The PHPP works in collaboration with healthcare systems, hospitals, clinics, community organizations, and local, regional, state, and federal partners. Through this coordinated approach, we strengthen preparedness and response capabilities to protect residents and visitors throughout Miami-Dade County.
Preparedness is a shared responsibility. Individuals, families, organizations, and government partners all play a role in ensuring the community is ready to respond and recover when emergencies occur. Being prepared helps reduce impacts, protect health, and support faster recovery following a public health emergency.
Our goal is to support the Miami-Dade County community by increasing awareness, promoting preparedness activities, and encouraging engagement before, during, and after emergencies. Stay informed, get involved, and be ready.
Be Prepared
Every family should have an emergency plan in place and an emergency supply kit ready and stocked.
