Yellow Fever Vaccine

The Florida Department of Health in Miami Dade’s immunization program provides Yellow Fever vaccine. A single dose provides lifelong protection for most people. Yellow fever vaccination is contraindicated and should be avoided when the recipient has a condition that increases the risk for a serious adverse reaction. If you have been diagnosed with any of the health conditions considered contraindications to receive the Yellow Fever vaccine, you must follow up with your healthcare provider to obtain a medical clearance to receive the vaccine, if your current health status allows it, before showing to your scheduled appointment. If your health condition does not allow you to take the Yellow Fever vaccine, you need to request from your healthcare provider a medical waiver in lieu of yellow fever vaccination. Once you have obtained the medical waiver from your healthcare provider, you can schedule an appointment in our clinic to issue a medical exemption based on your healthcare provider decision.

Malaria Prophylaxis Prescription 

The Florida Department of Health in Miami Dade’s immunization program following CDC recommendations provides prescription for drugs to prevent malaria. This is provided by a travel consultation preceded by a pretravel assessment in which multiple factors are assessed to evaluate the risks of acquiring malaria infection. The risk for a traveler contracting malaria differs substantially from region to region and from traveler to traveler, even within a single country, based upon travelers’ behaviors and circumstances. If you are traveling to a country or region associated with a moderate or high estimated relative risk of malaria infection, chemoprophylaxis should be prescribed.
