MIAMI (December 14, 2015) — A precautionary advisory to avoid contact with  water in the  canal adjacent to the pump station located at 12700 NW 30th Avenue remains in effect following Friday’s wastewater discharge in Opa-Locka. As a result of initial test results, additional sampling stations have been added (see stations on the map).

Approximately, two million gallons of wastewater discharged into the canal adjacent to the pump station located in Opa-Locka. Boundaries include Northwest 22nd Avenue between NW 127-107 streets. Signs have been posted around the affected areas.

The pump station discharge  has not impacted sewer service to any residents in Miami-Dade County.

The Department of Regulatory and Economic Resources staff continues to test the affected waters and the advisory remains in effect until test results are clear.

The sewer discharge was due to the increased water table levels caused by the unseasonably high rain events that have occurred the previous week.
