World AIDS Day 2014

By DOH Miami-Dade

December 01, 2014

This World AIDS Day the Florida Department of Health in Miami-Dade County has come together to honor all those who have been touched by HIV/AIDS by participating in events throughout the community including the Faces of AIDS exhibit in the History of Miami Museum. The theme of this year’s World AIDS Day is Focus, Partner, and Achieve: An AIDS-Free Generation”. We have made progress in the fight against AIDS as more people are able to live with HIV/AIDS with effective treatment and through effective prevention programs that have helped to lessen the number of infections.

However, there is still a lot of work to be done as there are still too many young Americans who do not know that they are infected with HIV/AIDS. Today we remember those who lost their lives to HV/AIDS and look forward to a day when Miami-Dade County has zero cases of HIV/AIDS.
