Ten additional human cases of West Nile virus infection of local transmission have been confirmed in Miami-Dade residents. There has been a total of fourteen West Nile virus infections in 2020.
MIAMI - A beach water sample collected at this location did not meet the recreational water quality standard for enterococci. By state regulation, the Florida Department of Health in Miami- Dade County is required to issue an advisory to inform the public in a specific area when this standard is not met. An advisory has been issued because a water sample collected at this beach exceeded the Federal and State recommended standard for enterococci (greater than 70 colony forming units of enterococci per 100ml for a single sample).

In light of these concerns and the misinformation surrounding this topic, the Bureau of Tobacco Free Florida and the Florida Department of Health in Miami-Dade County are helping educate parents, educators, pediatricians and partners on what they need to know about vaping and youth. This year’s Tobacco Free Florida Week, April 22–28, is themed E-Epidemic: Vaping and Youth.

Hepatitis A Miami-Dade County
Hepatitis A is an infection of the liver caused by the hepatitis A virus (HAV). Typical symptoms of hepatitis A are more common in adults and older children. Young children often have no symptoms or very mild symptoms. Hepatitis A is a routinely recommended vaccination for children starting at 1 year of age. Symptoms of Hepatitis A usually start within 28 days of exposure to the virus or within a range of 15-50 days. Symptoms can include: fever, loss of appetite, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, light-colored stools, dark-colored urine, generally ill-feeling (malaise), and occasionally presents a yellow coloring of the skin and the whites of the eyes (jaundice). People infected with hepatitis A are most contagious from two weeks before onset of symptoms to one week afterwards. Not everyone who is infected will have all the symptoms.

MIAMI – Based on a satisfactory microbial water quality test result, the Florida Department of Health in Miami-Dade County is lifting the swimming advisory that was issued on July 18, 2018 for the beach site at Crandon Beach North, Crandon Beach South and Golden Beach.
