Executive Community Health Nursing Director
Iris Jackson has worked with the Florida Department of Health in Miami-Dade County (DOH-Miami-Dade) since 2005. Dr. Jackson is currently the Executive Community Health Nursing Director. She is responsible for the operational supervision and ongoing support of public health care delivery at the DOH-Miami-Dade. She leads the Office of Public Health Nursing via the Public Health Nursing Council and provides oversight for the Clinical Administrative Support Services (CASS), Centralized Appointment Center (CAC), Refugee Health Assessment Program (RHAP) and Health Center Operations.
Dr. Jackson serves as the chair of the Health Center Clinic Management Workgroup and the Public Health Nursing Council. She is an active member of the Performance Management and Quality Improvement Council, Workforce Development Committee, Culturally and Linguistically Appropriate Services (CLAS) Workgroup and the statewide Human Trafficking Workgroup as well as various ad hoc workgroups to improve and/or standardize DOH-Miami-Dade service delivery, processes, policies and procedures. Dr. Jackson also collaborates with the FIU Urban Potential Laboratories, local schools of nursing focusing on mentoring students and professional role development.
Dr. Jackson began her nursing career in 1983 and has perform various clinical and administrative roles in both the private and public sector. She received her Bachelor and Master of Science Degrees in Nursing from the University of Miami, Master of Business Administration from Florida International University and Doctor of Nursing Practice from the University of Florida. She is a member of Sigma Theta Tau International Nursing Honor Society, Florida Nurses Association and the Nurse Practitioner Council of Miami-Dade.
